Writing: A Window to My Soul

Why Create Art?

Why am I doing this? Writing this now, recording a voice over. Why? What’s the point? Is the point of creation consumption? Do you think artists care how many people view their art, or do you think that the artist simply feels compulsion to create. Do you think that they marvel over their own creations upon completion, or just onto the next? What would Van Gogh say if he saw all his pieces hanging in museums for patron’s viewing pleasure? Or the countless phone cases and other knock off memorabilia pawning off his creations enmasse? Do you think he’d give a shit? So many artists who live off their creations I’m sure care deeply about how much their art is worth, or at least, how much somebody is willing to pay for it, and how many pieces they can create and sell. Price and volume. Maybe capitalism has corrupted art? Let’s not even get into AI art.

Every Creator Has Their Purpose

By the way, I swear this post is about writing. I just think that the introspection into art as a case study for expression provides clear evidence that people create for different purposes. May it be money, compulsion, expression, maybe even just for fun. Or perhaps answer D, all of the above. Whether it’s art, music, videos, podcasts, or blog posts, every creator has a purpose, a reason they do what they do. What’s mine? There’s something particularly interesting about the reason I write that I’d like to discuss. A concept I find enlightening and beautiful.

A Window to My Soul

Lots of people keep journals, hidden away under their bed or under lock and key in their nightstand. They pen in their deepest darkest thoughts for nobody to ever read. Not even their closest allies have access to these pages. Their secrets never to be unveiled. A window into their life, boarded up. Windows are not made to be covered by blinds and drapes, let alone boarded. They are made to seen through. I, alike the window, wish to be seen through. By whomever cares to look inside. Like sand through an hourglass, these are the thoughts of my life.

Take a Peek

Through the practice of writing, and posting on my blog, I am crafting a lens into the soul of a man. My soul, on display, for any and all to see. No stained glass, no rose tenting, just plain old double pane. What, you think I don’t give a damn about insulation? I don’t want my energy bill going out the window! Some windows may be wide, others tall, perhaps a porthole or skylight here and there. There’s lots of different ways to look inside. Would you like a peek?

Lumière

Be our guest, be our guest, put my soul to the test. Do you wish to know my truth or even care to see the rest? Post by post, you will see, that there’s no more truer me, than what I write upon this scroll for all the internet to see. You will find what you seek, if you just take spare a peek. I don’t share this, just to spare bliss, cause the topics are quite bleak. But the joy, it will come, maybe not one for one. As my soul is still in spring, and I have yet to see the sun. So subscribe, if you please, if you don’t my minds at ease. The fact that you don’t care stops me not from writing these.

If you’re reading this, it’s not too late.
